BRADENTON, Fla. – November 4, 2025 – IMG Academy, a global leader in sports education, proudly announced its role as an apprenticeship site for the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program (ICECP) for the third consecutive year. This significant collaboration, facilitated by the IMG Academy Foundation, underscores a shared commitment to advancing sports education and coaching excellence on a global scale.

The ICECP, a prestigious initiative offered in partnership between the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and the University of Delaware, brings together national-level coaches from around the world. These coaches are selected to participate in a rigorous twelve-month program, culminating in an immersive, one-week hands-on experience at IMG Academy’s sprawling campus in Bradenton, Florida.

A Foundation for Global Coaching Excellence

The program's structure is designed to provide comprehensive development for its participants. Coaches first engage in a six-month online curriculum, followed by a 10-day residential segment where they learn from USOPC staff and various industry experts. The capstone of this intensive training is their visit to IMG Academy, where they delve into a comprehensive schedule tailored to enhance their practical coaching skills and expand their professional networks.

During their time at IMG Academy, the visiting coaches receive unparalleled access to the institution's world-class staff and leaders. They engage in hands-on learning experiences with sport-specific coaching staff, gaining valuable insights into advanced training methodologies. Beyond the technical aspects of coaching, participants also have unique opportunities to connect with leaders across athletic performance and personal development, reflecting IMG Academy’s renowned holistic approach to nurturing student-athletes.

"We are always excited to send our coaches to IMG Academy," remarked Dr. Matthew Robinson, Director of ICECP and Professor of Sport Management at the University of Delaware. "This ongoing partnership not only strengthens international coaching development but also broadens access to sports education well beyond student-athletes."

Cultivating a Holistic Approach to Athlete Development

IMG Academy's contribution to the ICECP is particularly vital due to its emphasis on developing the "whole student-athlete." Through this immersive experience, coaches are introduced to integrated methodologies and techniques that address not only athletic prowess but also academic success and personal growth. This holistic philosophy is a cornerstone of IMG Academy's reputation as one of the premier sports education institutions globally.

The impact of this collaboration extends far beyond the individual coaches. By exposing international coaches to these comprehensive development strategies, the program aims to equip them with knowledge and tools they can adapt and apply within their own communities. This fosters an environment where coaching and athlete support worldwide can be elevated, promoting sustainable growth in sports across various nations.

Fostering International Connections and Exchange

The IMG Academy Foundation plays a crucial role in supporting this global initiative. Kate Massey, Executive Director of the IMG Academy Foundation, expressed the organization's pride in the partnership. "The IMG Academy Foundation is proud to support a global organization that provides learning opportunities to individuals across the world," Massey stated, highlighting the foundation's commitment to educational outreach and global collaboration.

Since the inception of this collaboration, IMG Academy has hosted more than 15 coaches, representing over 10 countries. This diversity enriches the academy's already vibrant global culture and community. As one of the most internationally diverse campuses in the United States, IMG Academy finds this partnership to be a natural extension of its mission to foster global connections in the athletic community.

The apprenticeship experience at IMG Academy has spanned multiple athletic disciplines, demonstrating the versatility and applicability of its coaching philosophies. Coaches specializing in sports such as basketball, volleyball, golf, and tennis have gained invaluable hands-on learning from IMG Academy’s expert staff. This broad reach ensures that the benefits of the program are distributed across a wide spectrum of sports, enhancing coaching standards and athlete development in various fields.

The program is generously supported by scholarships from the International Olympic Committee's Olympic Solidarity fund, enabling national Olympic committees worldwide to send their most promising coaches to participate. This financial support underscores the international community's recognition of the ICECP's importance in developing future sports leaders.

As IMG Academy continues to welcome new cohorts of ICECP participants, the ongoing partnership strengthens relationships with international sports organizations and facilitates a vital exchange of knowledge across borders. This collaborative spirit not only benefits the individual coaches and their athletes but also contributes to the broader advancement of the Olympic movement and the global sports landscape. The successful third year of this program stands as a testament to the power of shared expertise and dedication to excellence in sports education.
